Alexa in Korea

Seriously, how good would it be to live Alexa Chung’s life for a day? Most recently she flew to Korea to attend a Mulberry event in the Grand Hyatt Hotel. She DJ-ed at the party and wore a pleated shirt dress from the brand’s autumn/winter ’11 collection. Jel. In other news, I am fantasizing about a top-to toe lilac look (v. flattering on us brunettes). The ‘Google image-ing’ starts now.

Mulberry's SS11 Presentation

Went to Mulberry's presentation today at Claridges. Inspired by 'The Secret Garden' it included blush-coloured separates and oversized details. My favourite was an big taffeta bubble skirt with a paperbag waist. I'll put some of Mulberry's outfit shots up soon. In the meantime feel free to peruse pictures of Alexa and co who today are mostly being sideways (seriously, downloading images is a long, painful and mostly unsuccessful task!) The front row was killer with Gemma Arterton, Rachel Stevens, Laura Bailey and VV Brown all cooing over the gorgeous new bags.

Another Post About Alexa

Okay, so I do realise that two posts about Alexa Chung in as many weeks might seem a touch obsessive but this one isn’t entirely (or even directly) about my current style crush. She is but a muse in this scenario of accessories.

It must be a dream to have a brand like Mulberry name a bag after you and lucky Alexa looks set to be a massive hit this Spring/Summer. A funky take on the brand’s classic Bayswater, Alexa is a bag of fun contrasts and twists while remaining perfectly proportioned - just like the main lady herself! Mulberry has crafted this practical piece from luxuriously soft, textured leathers in a veritable rainbow of covetable colours. Alexa can be held, worn across the body or on the shoulder and is also available in oversized and clutch versions. Join the waiting list tomorrow (but wait behind me in the queue – I really want the pink leopard one, and the yellow one and, um the tan one too).

2009's Style Icon: an Homage to Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung has made it to the top of Vogue’s ‘20 Most Stylish of 2009.’ With her special brand of indie tomboy eccentricity, she has featured on my fashion radar for a while now and I have long admired her ability to dress down even the most frou-frou of frocks with flat loafers and messy hair. Championing the Breton top in a way girls from the Hills can only but dream, Alexa has beaten Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and (even) Lady Gaga to the Number 1 spot.

I have cherry-picked my favourite Alexa looks from the finest Google images search. Thanks to everyone I have stolen them from, I hope they provide all of you with a little sales shopping inspiration.

Currently, I am far too full of Quality Street to even contemplate trying on new clothes but, after an imminently sober and starving January, perhaps I can begin to consider a new Alexa-inspired wardrobe.

Mulberry Party at Claridges

“This is the best fashion party EVER” shrieked an exuberant young man (at nobody in particular). He was right. Mulberry hosted their party in the same location as their show, Claridges. Pastel-coloured balloons filled every room, apple cocktails were proffered at every turn as gleaming carousel horses looked on.

Echoing the fairground theme of the luxury brand’s earlier salon-style presentations, the fun-packed party featured a candy floss booth, a (temporary) tattoo parlour, hook-a-duck (on which I won a bow-shaped Mulberry bracelet-YES!) and great DJ-ing from Mike Pickering and Jeff Leach. Friendly Fires performed live and cool frontman Ed agreed that Mulberry’s shindig was indeed “not bad for a fashion party.”

Everyone loves an excuse to let their hair down mid-way through the fashion week and celebrites are no exception. Fashion VIP's in attendance included Alexa Chung, Leigh Lezark, Pixie Geldof, Daisy Lowe, Natalie Press, Tolula Adeyemi, Tamsin Egerton, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Kaya Scodelario, Eddie Redmaine, Jamie Campbell Bower, Lady Victoria Harvey, David Walliams, Ben Grimes, Caroline Seiber, Chanel Iman, Yasmin Mills, Amber Le Bon, Daniel Merriweather, Erin O'Conner, Lara Stone, Kirsty Hume and Trish Goff.

Mulberry’s whirl of fairground fun included was a breath of fresh air in the midst of the poser-heavy parties of late.
