Jacky Tsai

I’ve been to a lot of exhibitions lately, but it has been a while since I have been truly wowed by an artist but Jacky Tsai did exactly that. I was browsing on the internet (as you do) and came across the most amazing golden tree painting with Superman and other superheroes flying from its branches - a piece called 'Fly me to the Moon.' Tsai is inspired by traditional Chinese craft. You might recognise his skulls - he designed Alexander McQueen's famous motif.

I saw his work at the Scream gallery in Soho - that exhibition has finished now but keep an eye on his blog for news.

Ooh Tiki Tiki!

Ebbing ever closer to thirty, I decided to make the most of my last ‘twenty-somethingth’ birthday and hit ‘Handy Joe’s Tiki Bar’ in London’s Kingly Street (just off Carnaby Street). The footie was on, so the place wasn’t as buzzing as usual, but it was still lots of fun.

There are many different types of rum on offer, and my guests and I sipped refreshing mojitos and creamy pina coladas throughout the evening. A DJ was playing upstairs, so once we’d oiled the wheels, we hit the dance floor until the clock struck 12 and it was time to move on.

It’s free to book a space ay Handy Joes, and if you’re looking for a lighthearted evening with a taste of the exotic, this is the perfect place to go.  It’s nice and central, making it easy for everyone to get to.

Cabin-sized Skincare from Murad

Don't get me wrong, I am definitely more of a BA girl at heart, but because I like to travel often, I am forced to favour budget airlines for most of my flights. This usually means packing light, with all cosmetics resigned to a sad little freezer bag. Thankfully, skincare brand Murad has come up trumps with a stylish solution which is as light on your pocket as it is on your hand luggage allowance. There are three travel-friendly kits to choose from and you can get them from June 15th for just £10 from your local branch of Marks and Spencer and online. Each pack includes a set of mini Murad skin heroes to help care for your skin when you're away from home. It's tricky not to be tempted to use them pre-holiday, but when the price is so right, you could trial a new regime before committing. Whenever I go somewhere hot (usually Italy) my skin always plays up before it gets better; heat and humidity make me break out. After a couple of days of sun and sea it usually rights itself. I'm not taking any chances this year and am definitely packing the Murad 'Balance and Protect' Travel Kit which includes five Clarifying Wipes, Oil Control Mattifier (SPF15 PA++) and the Skin Perfecting Primer. I'm tempted to pack a 'Smooth and Soften' Travel Kit for when my skin calms down in the second week. They hardly take up any room in your bag, so taking more than one is certainly an option.

Hype X Topman Festival Pack

Hype has teamed up with Topman on a colourful, printed festival pack, guaranteed to add vibrancy and edge to any summer wardrobe. It was launched last Thursday at Boxpark, Shoreditch. Ear-splitting hip-hop and Peroni beers were the perfect companions to a warm (and not raining) Thursday night in the city.

Lacoste Regent Street

I had no idea the Lacoste Regent Street reopening was going to be such a star-studded affair! Lady Mary Charteris and Big Pink hubby Robbie Furze, Gemma Chan, Jack Fox, Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams and singer John Newman all attended. We nibbled tasty mackerel canapés and sipped champagne cocktails as we walked the rainbow of product in the new look space. DJ duo Lou Lou hit the decks and there was even a harpist and other classical musicians later on in the evening. I loved the new Lacoste accessories, especially the sporty totes. Colour fans will love seeing the bright polos and snappy dressers will enjoy the streamlined chinos and slim-fitting jersey tops. There’s something for everyone and the shop location is unbeatable – I’m planning my next Wednesday night spree as I type; I’ll be sure to pre-book a restaurant next time as Hump Day seems to have overtaken Thursday as the new hot night out.
